"David Brunner's music is lyrical, fresh-sounding and always creative.  His music is a favorite with the choir as well as the audience!"

A Great Day of Singing!

Just home from a weekend with the Norman Children's Chorus and singers from nineteen area elementary and middle schools in Norman, Oklahoma.  Thanks to Sandy Knudson, Artistic Director of the chorus, for her expert planning and preparation.  A great day of singing!  Plus, another stay in my favorite room at my favorite B&B anywhere.  The Chickasaw Rancher in the Montford Inn!

Ernesto Epistola's haiku

Just approved the proofs for MOMENTS, seven tiny pieces about the seasons -- little glimpses written as single line unison melodies with only a bit of accompaniment -- on haiku by Ernesto Epistola. Sparse, yet fully there. Like haiku. I wish these had arrived just a few days earlier, as Ernesto's memorial service was yesterday.

Fantastic concert in Pinellas County

How great to return to Pinellas county for this year's High School All-County Choir!  Many thanks to Kody Wallace and all who did so much to prepare for this event, master accompanist Logan Brown, dedicated teachers and enthusiastic students.  Bravo on your fantastic concert in Ruth Eckerd hall!  (Also a great blackened grouper sandwich at Crabby Bill's at Clearwater Beach!)

The Broadmoor

I spent the past few days at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, a grand hotel full of old-world charm and impeccable service.  I've never had so many people continually opening doors for me in my entire life!  I was in Colorado to present five sessions for the Colorado Music Educators Association on topics of conducting, rehearsal planning, repertoire, analysis, and the important of language and ideas in choral music -- "poetry is when words sing".  While there I enjoyed walks around the lake, looking up at the mountains, being with composer and conductor friends Paul Caldwell and Andrea Ramsey, and sampling some of the memorable food at the Broadmoor's many fine restaurants.

Brava to my Colleague Kelly Miller

Congratulations to Kelly Miller for her article on my music for advanced women's choirs in the new issue of the International Choral Bulletin. I feel honored.  You can read it in English, German, French and Spanish!
